To grow up is to accept vulnerability.

Happiness expert Brené Brown once wrote, “Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable.” In other words, to develop a truly intimate relationship, recovering sex addicts must overcome their fear, shame, and distorted self-image, allowing others to see them as they really are. Only after this occurs can a meaningful connection can begin.
