To grow up is to accept vulnerability.
Happiness expert Brené Brown once wrote, “Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy – the experiences that make us the most vulnerable.” In other words, to develop a truly and joyfully intimate relationship, recovering sex and porn addicts must overcome fear, shame, and distorted self-image, allowing others to see us as we really are. Only after this occurs can a meaningful connection begin.
