Without active addiction, you must experience life, and that isn’t always easy.
Substance abusers who go “cold turkey” often experience physical withdrawal—delirium tremens, fevers, chills, night sweats, nausea, tachycardia (elevated heart rate), agitation, anxiety, irritability, hallucinations, etc. But what about sex and porn addicts. Do we also get the DTs and hallucinate? Typically, we don’t. But we still do experience withdrawal—usually through agitation, irritability, depression, anxiety, and/or a strong desire to “switch” to another addiction. This is perfectly normal and to be expected. After all, we have lost our primary coping mechanism, and we will naturally feel the effects of that.
