The correct path is the path that works best for you.
There are as many ways to work the 12 steps as there are people working them. Rather than pretending there is one right way, or a best way, or even a better way to work the steps, we will simply restate the advice we have heard over and over in 12 step meetings: Take what you like and leave the rest. If a suggestion makes sense to you, then use it. If a suggestion does not make sense to you, that doesn’t mean it is flawed, it just means it’s not the right suggestion for you.

Ask at least one person in recovery for advice on working the steps, either general advice about the steps, or specific advice about the step you’re currently working.
