We are the engineers of our own souls.
Most recovering addicts work the tenth step on an as-needed basis and also at the end of each day. With the day in review version of Step 10, we look back upon the events of the day and assess how we did. We look at situations where we handled ourselves with class and dignity, and situations where we might do better in the future. Occasionally, we realize that we owe someone an amends. In such cases, we should make that amends as soon as possible—either right away, if it’s not too late in the evening, or early the following morning. This end-of-day inventory is a way to keep our side of the street clean on an ongoing basis, and to uncover character defects we weren’t yet aware of.
