Missing Pieces: Identifying the Impediments that Interfere with Treatment Success
This presentation is designed to help attendees review and resolve the (non-substance related), co-occurring clinical challenges that can prevent addicted clients from achieving their therapeutic goals. We will review such issues in detail while offering attendees concrete methods to readily identify and address these obstructions to healing. This talk will help clinicians widen and explore these assessment-based barriers to successful outcomes.
Objectives
- Identify 4 common (non-substance related) clinical challenges that can negatively affect successful addiction treatment outcomes.
- Explain how such related co-occurring disorders can be readily missed in the assessment process.
- Effectively gain insight into “rule-in” and “rule-out” co-occurring diagnoses based on signs in the client’s presentation or progress.
- Gain the insight and resources to learn when and where outside referrals for such issues are required.
