God has no religion.
The twelve steps let us develop our own conception of God. As soon as we do this, in whatever way we go about it, even if it’s as simple as thinking of God as Good Orderly Direction, we can begin the process of accepting help from that entity. In a general way, this means going to and participating in twelve-step meetings, getting a sponsor, interacting with other recovering addicts, taking advice and direction from our therapist, becoming accountable with our family, etc. It might also mean going to church, confessing our sins, praying, meditating, etc., but only if those actions happen to be a part of how we understand and interact with the God of our understanding.
Just for Today
Think about your conception of God and allow that entity to help you in your recovery and your life.
