Sex addiction is not about feeling good, it’s about feeling less.
Sex addicts use sex to “numb out” and escape from stress and emotional (and sometimes physical) discomfort—including the pain of underlying emotional and/or psychological issues like depression, anxiety, early-life trauma and the like. This is also why alcoholics drink, drug addicts get high, compulsive gamblers hit the casino, etc. Whatever the addiction, addicts are not seeking fun and pleasure; we are looking to control our feelings.
Just for Today
Try to sit with your feelings, experiencing them fully and completely and then releasing them.
