Lost for now is not the same as lost forever. We can find our way back.

For sex addicts, a primary coping mechanism for any and all forms of emotional and psychological discomfort is sexual fantasy. To avoid uncomfortable feelings, sex addicts start thinking about how much they enjoyed past sexual encounters and how much they would enjoy a sexual encounter either right now or in the very near future. At that point, the obsession kicks in. Suddenly, people become sexual objects. And no, these fantasies do not involve memories of bad experiences or unwanted consequences. And once sex addicts “lose themselves” in sexual fantasy, it is very difficult to stop the addictive cycle.

Just for Today: Try to debunk one of your favorite fantasies by “playing it through” to its consequence-filled conclusion.
