Sex Addiction is Not a Symptom of Bipolar, ADHD, OCD, or Any Other Disorder

Sex addiction is not about sex, it’s about what sex does to your life.

Before a sex addiction diagnosis can accurately be made, professionals must first consider any number of major mental health disorders that sometimes include hypersexuality and/or impulsive sexual behavior as a possible symptom. Some of these include the active stages of bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. This means that not every compulsively sexual person is sexually addicted; hypersexual and impulsive sexual behaviors are legitimate symptoms of many other disorders. That said, it is certainly possible to have any of the aforementioned conditions and to also be sexually addicted.
