Sex addiction is not about sex, it’s about what sex does to your life.

Before a sex addiction diagnosis can accurately be made, professionals must first consider any number of major mental health disorders that sometimes include hypersexuality and/or impulsive sexual behavior as a possible symptom. Some of these include the active stages of bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
