Cocaine is among the most addictive substances on the planet.
Cocaine, no matter how it is ingested, rapidly alters brain chemistry, inducing feelings of euphoria and control. A common myth about cocaine is that it’s not addictive because sudden abstinence does not precipitate the physical withdrawal symptoms seen with certain other drugs (heroin, alcohol, etc.) However, as more than one user has asked: “If cocaine is not addictive, then why can’t I stop?” Relapse rates among people attempting to recover from cocaine addiction are astronomical—as high as 94%. When coupled with sexual addiction, those rates are even higher.
