When we share our story, shame cannot survive.

Overcoming the deeply rooted shame that drives sexual addiction is a process of learning to recognize shame and its triggers, learning to “reality check” shame by reaching out to supportive others, and feeling empathy when they hear about and experience our shame with us. Needless to say, this is easier said than done. In fact, most people would rather eat dirt than talk about their feelings of shame. Nevertheless, healing from shame requires the courage to reach out to supportive others and share our darkest secrets.

Just for Today
